Special Projects

  • Access Services Desk Merger (Summer 2006 - Summer 2007)
    • Building upon the work of the previous Head of Access Services, I oversaw three work groups as we merged three public service points into a single public service point. The work groups were responsible for creating and implementing a desk scheduling plan, a staff cross-training plan, and a student assistant cross-training plan. The merger, which has now been in effect for over a year, has proven to be successful. Access Service staff members have greatly expanded their skill sets, our patrons are better served, and we have taken advantage of several staffing efficiencies.
  • Circulation Workflow Assessment (April 2006 - June 2006)
    • I served as Project Lead on this charge, the purpose of which was to evaluate Circulation workflows in light of an impending Access Services merger. The final products of this charge were a complete set of documented workflows and a method by which to continually evaluate Circulation processes, accurate job descriptions, and recommendations regarding the appropriate staffing and classification of the Circulation Unit.
  • Faculty Mentorship Program (January 2006 - June 2006)
    • The faculty mentorship program allows motivated students to engage in research projects with the guidance of faculty and librarians.
  • Interlibrary Loan VDX Implementation Project Charge (July 2004 - June 2005)
    • The purpose of this project was to implement VDX and evaluate the changes presented by VDX on our current processes. The final product of this charge was a complete set of workflows, a method by which to continually evaluate Interlibrary Loan processes, documentation regarding changes to our processes necessitated by the VDX implementation, a process by which to evaluated enhancements and new versions of VDX, and accurate job descriptions.
